CPA Program Prerequisites
Program update: The CPA Prerequisite Education Program (CPA PREP) has been re-named to preparatory courses. The admission criterion has changed so a degree is no longer required; however a 120 credit-hour degree or equivalent is still required for entry to CPA PEP. The entry requirement for preparatory courses is
now 30 credit hours of post-secondary study (equivalent to one year full-time study) at a post-secondary institution or three years relevant work experience.
For aspiring accountants who are lacking some or all of the prerequisites required for admission to the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP), the preparatory courses allow you to gain the prerequisite subject
area coverage needed for admission to the CPA PEP.
Delivered on a part-time basis to offer students maximum flexibility and accessibility, the preparatory courses are offered through online or classroom learning. Students complete only those courses they require.
The preparatory courses are currently offered in five semesters each year.
How to enrol in preparatory courses for the CPA program
Your first step is to submit a copy of your post-secondary transcripts (in English) for an assessment. The specific transcript submission deadline for each semester is in the preparatory course schedule.
Once you have received your transcript assessment results, you may register as a CPA Ontario student. Please allow up to 10 business days before course enrolment for processing of complete student registration applications. Applications not submitted within these timelines cannot be guaranteed enrolment.
Once you have received your confirmation of student registration and you may enrol in a preparatory course.
